Topic: How to Pray
Text: John 19 vs 30 ,When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
Rev 12 vs 11 They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death
-jesus’ statement on the cross (It is finished) ,cropped the devil and opened the portal for God’s people to be blessed
-People cannot “hurt you” when Christ has defeated all. The only thing you need to do is fight the good fight of faith 1 Tim 6 vs 12 Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses.
If you are saved then you are safe.
-When you pray, don’t pray like you are going to the cross, rather, pray from the cross
-Before the cross you are praying for victory. After the cross, you are praying from victory 1 Peter 2 vs 24 “He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.”
-Use your mouth effectively when you pray Prov 18 vs 21. The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.
Mind what you say, there is power in your tongue
How to Pray
-You need to know that God is not angry with you, come boldly to the throne of grace 2 Corinth 5 vs 19 that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.
1 John 2 vs 2 My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have an advocate with the Father—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.
-We have no other mediator apart from Jesus He 10 vs 12, But when this priest had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God,
1 Tim 2 vs 5, For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus,
Heb 7 vs 25
Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.
One of the greatest hindrance to prayer is guilt
