TITLE: JESUS PRAYED FOR THE UNITY OF THE CHURCH

AUTHORED BY PASTOR CHARLES AND FAVOUR CHUKWUEMEZIE

JOHN 17:11 ” And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.”

The unity of the church, being the very body of Christ, has always been His most important desire. He prayed about it twice in one chapter, verse 22-23.
He had also told his disciples that people will know that they are His disciples when they love one another. Obviously there can never be unity unless there is love. In our text, Jesus is asking God to keep the Church for this one reason: ..that they will be united as Him and God are.

We know that God responded to the prayers of Jesus while He was here on earth and now in heaven. This prayer has been answered, but many Church people choose to be divided.

If you are not concerned about other Christians, you are not one. You are not a part of the body.
If you are a Christian, when Christians are being persecuted in another area different from where you reside, you should be touched by their pains. You should be driven to your knees to pray for them, don’t feel like it’s not your business,  else you are just claiming to be a Christian.
Being a part of the Church – the body of Christ, is not by being a church person. The proof is that you love your brethren, even those in another denomination different from the Church you attend.

Let’s cooperate to bring the answer to the prayer of Jesus into manifestation. That’s the only way we can together win against the enemies of the Church. A House divided against itself cannot stand.
