TITLE: LIVE BY EXAMPLE
AUTHORED BY PASTOR CHARLES AND FAVOUR CHUKWUEMEZIE
JOSHUA 24:15 ” And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”
Here you see a determined committed leader speaking, “but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” There must be something that will give you the confidence to speak foryourself and others. Joshua was sure of himself first. He was too sure to serve God no matter what.
You can’t be a good leader till you can lead yourself. A father must know that his children watch to see how he goes about his daily activities. Jesus sends the disciples to go preach, and we also see Him preaching to someone. He ask them to pray and you see Him pray. You can’t tell your children to be home early whereas they hear you argue with their mother because you keep late nights.
A preacher can preach all he can, but living what you preach will make more impact on the congregation. Acts 1:1 puts it this way “of all that Jesus began to do and teach” do what you teach.
At this point it would be great to mention this, living by example is not just a word for pastors and parents.
As a child of God, the world is your stage. The people around youshould be seen like your family or congregation. See them as the people watching you. You are not going to live to impress them, but you are going to live the normal life of a Christian. Be the bible they read. Let them understand the scriptures better by watching you live. 2 Corinthians 3:3
Make sure what you call your mistakes are not your lifestyle.
Leadership is more powerful when it is leadership by example. It makes more impact than words.
